Peter Mitchell

Peter is Founder and Managing Partner of Kings Gate Capital Partners and KGCP International and has over 25 years’ experience in the North American and Australasian Asset Management industry. Prior to Kings Gate Capital Partners, Peter led the National Distribution team for Zurich Life and Investments focusing on the Retail Advised and Superannuation channels.

Prior to that, Peter was Managing Director, Head of Distribution for State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) where he led the Institutional, Retail, ETF and client service teams for 5 years. Peter was also a member of the Australian and APAC Executive Committees. During his tenure, SSGA grew to become the largest Funds Manager in Australia with in excess of $120 Billion under management.

Prior to that, Peter, was responsible for institutional business at BT Investment Management for 7 years (now Pendal Asset Management) as well as holding a similar role at American Express Asset Management now Columbia Threadneedle, Minneapolis Minnesota.

Peter’s experience in financial markets includes currency, currency option trading in Toronto, New Zealand and Australia, as well equity sales trading in New York. Peter has an undergraduate degree in Criminology and a Masters in Finance from University of Technology Sydney.

Steve Merlicek

Steve is Chairman and an Advisory Board Member to Kings Gate Capital Partners and co-founder of KGCP International with over 30 years’ experience in the Investment Management Industry. He has been one of the industry’s longest serving Chief Investment Officer’s as well as receiving multiple industry awards including CIO of the year in 2012 and most recently, inducted into the “Rainmaker Hall of Fame” for his contribution to the Superannuation Industry in Australia”.

Prior to retiring from IOOF in 2017, he was CIO of their $17 Billion Investment Management Division for 7 years, taking their multi-manager business from bottom to top quartile. Steve was also CIO of Telstra Super for 10 years, Australia’s largest Corporate Superannuation fund with over $20 Billion under management.

Steve is Chair of Activus Investment Advisors, an independent advice firm providing asset allocation and model portfolio’s to Superannuation Funds, Dealer Groups, IFA’s and Charities.

As well as sitting on the investment committee of several large Australian Superannuation Funds, Steve is a director of the ASX Listed WCM International Equities Manager. He’s an investment committee member of the internationally renowned Walter and Eliza Hall Medical Research Foundation and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Foundation.

Steve also served as a regular soldier in an Australian Army recon unit and holds an Economic (Honours) degree from Monash University in Melbourne, a Masters of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Melbourne and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).

Sean Scallan

Sean has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry including private equity, consulting, financial advice as well as financial media and investor education events. More recently he was Sales Director at a global media, publishing and events organisation, responsible for investor education connecting best-in-class global and domestic fund managers with investors across multiple channels. Clients included Institutional investors Family Offices, UHNW – Private Wealth Advisers, Consultants, Researchers, Academics, Politicians and industry associations. For over a decade, Sean created, hosted, chaired and sold investor education events, along with hosting and participating on numerous advisory boards. Through these forums he would showcase investors best ideas and strategies across all asset classes including liquid and illiquid investments, with particular expertise and interest in alternatives, private markets and impact investing.

Sean’s experience has provided him with deep and long-standing relationships through-out the Australian, and New Zealand Superannuation and Advisory markets, across all levels of the capital raising decision matrix. His relationships span from c-suite, advisory boards, investment committees, trustees, to allocators. Sean has created a reputation for building long term partnerships, connections and trust in the pursuit of positively impacting the flow of capital amongst the industry’s influencers and decision makers.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking, Finance & Risk Management from Griffith University in Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, Psychology & Sociology from NMMU in South Africa

Joanne Saleeba

Joanne has over 25 years experience in responsible investment and corporate sustainability. Most recently, Joanne led the Responsible Investment team at HESTA, in charge of developing the strategic direction of the fund’s program across listed and unlisted asset classes and overseeing its implementation. This includes the assessment of ESG issues in investment processes and decision making as well as ESG capabilities and ESG outcomes of investment portfolios. She has also worked at the board level to incorporate ESG into HESTA’s investment beliefs and strategic objectives of the fund. 

Joanne also developed the investment strategy and procedure for HESTA’s impact investment program. Prior to this, Joanne was the Executive Director of the Investor Group on Climate Change Australia & New Zealand (IGCC) and authored the most recent IGCC publication Zero Emissions/Sustainable Returns: Strategies for Achieving Net Zero Emissions (February 2020).

Joanne has an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Melbourne and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.

Keith Drewery 

Keith is an Advisory Board Member of Kingsgate Capital Partners with over 30 years’ experience in professional services. Keith is currently a director in KPMG’s Enterprise practice, based in Sydney, and also consults to Family Offices and High Net Worth individuals through his own consultancy.  He is the appointed representative on a number of family boards and investment committees and in the past, has held Board positions at the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation and The Funding Network’s Sydney Leadership Council. He has also been a contributing editor and co-author to several publications focused on Family Office creation and development.

Keith’s work with KPMG focuses on the Private Client market working directly with high net wealth families on matters associated with succession, inter-generational wealth management and philanthropy. 

Keith holds a Masters Degree in Taxation from the University of Sydney.

Graeme Bibby

Graeme Bibby is an Advisory Board Member of Kings Gate Capital Partners and has over 25 years investment management experience. During his industry tenure Graeme has been responsible for managing and advising on listed and unlisted assets as well as manager of manager portfolios across multiple asset classes and sectors including superannuation, funds management, asset consulting, insurance and wealth management. Most recently Graeme was Chief Investment Officer of Mutual Trust, one of Australia’s largest multi-family office and wealth management firms and prior to that, Chief Investment Officer of AIA Insurance Australia for 8 years. 

He is founder of The Personal CIO Project and Bibby Investment Research working with CIO’s and their teams from across the industry, to help them better understand asset allocation, structuring and risk / return metrics. Graeme holds an MBA from University of Newcastle, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and a Finsia Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and investments. Graeme was also a Board Member of the CFA Society Melbourne for 10 years, 4 of which he was President.

Mark Levinson

Mark is an Advisory Board Member of Kingsgate Capital Partners and is a Managing Partner at Arrkene Pty Ltd, a consulting entity with focus on the financial services industry. He is also an Investment Committee member of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council and an Advisor to the Art Gallery of NSW Foundation Finance Committee. Mark was Managing Director at both Citi Bank and Goldman Sachs. He also served as a Trustee of Goldman Sachs Superannuation Fund which had top decile performance during his tenure.

Previously Mark was General Manager and founding Partner of MST Capital, a discretionary Global Macro Fund in Sydney Australia, overseeing operations, governance, marketing and distribution. Mark’s vast experience includes working at Drexel Burnham Lambert, working on the CBOE and CME Floors, Branch Manager of Prudential Securities in Singapore and Head of Desk for derivatives in London and Derivative Research Analyst in Chicago.

Mark holds an MBA from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia, a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST).
